Point West Corporate Plaza

Point West Coporate Plaza

THE BUILDING

Point West Corporate Plaza is a Federal Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) 2015 ENERGY STAR Certified Building with a high rating of 91. ENERGY STAR certified buildings save energy, save money, and help protect the environment by generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions than typical buildings. How? To be certified as ENERGY STAR, a building must meet strict energy performance standards set by EPA. Point West Corporate Plaza’s score of 91 indicates that the buildings perform better than at least 91 percent of similar buildings nationwide. No matter where you see it, the ENERGY STAR label means the same thing — an energy-efficient top performer that saves money without sacrificing performance.

A 2011 campus-wide heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system chiller, cooling tower, and pump equipment upgrade earned Point West Corporate Plaza several distinguished energy efficiency and environmental friendliness awards from public utility, national, state and local law making, and sustainable business entities, including:

    • Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Doris Matsui;
    • California Legislature Certificate of Recognition from 5th Assembly District member Dr. Richard Pan;
    • 2011 Sustainable Business Awards from the Sacramento Area Business Environmental Resource Center (BERC) and the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce;
    • County of Sacramento Board of Supervisor’s Resolution; and,
    • Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Community Energy Award.

“Cool roofs” were installed in 2007. The Building also has an automated controls system for its energy efficient HVAC and lighting, has “smart” landscaping irrigation controllers for water usage reduction and efficiency, and has trash and e-waste recycling programs.
